The Galapagos National Park (PNG) has released 191 young giant tortoises on the island of Santa Fe in the center of the Galapagos Archipelago as part of an ecological restoration plan for this island area. The quota is the final stage in the process of introducing giant tortoises to this island, which began in 2015. The intention is to populate the island with this type of reptile, whose original population was extinct one hundred and fifty years earlier.
